Meet our

Steve Teale

Hello, I’m Steve. Beate and I have been ministering in Pressie churches for the last 26 yrs. We were both previously teachers, and grew up on the South Coast of NSW. We have three sons across two states. Pete and Jo here at Alstonville. Matt, Jeanette, Harry, Mia and Luke in Brisbane. Jono, Casey and Chloe in Wollongbar.

Beate is a family counsellor working alongside people in our community. A special joy for her is spending time with her grandchildren, and also encouraging local mums at Mainly Music and over coffee. They are doing a good job in the midst of many competing demands. Beate also enjoys quilting, coffee, reading and avoiding exercise.

I am a passionate fisherman, and preacher, I’m involved in a local sports fishing club and know I should be doing more exercise. Both of us are more convinced than ever, that faithful teaching of God’s Word is most precious of all.

Brad Fletcher

Hi. I’m Brad Fletcher. I came on board at Crossroads in July 2012 as Assistant Pastor with a focus on Young Families, Children and Youth. I’ve been married to the beautiful Joanna for over ten years and we are privileged to have one son, Janiel, and one daughter, Charmaine, who bring great joy and fun to our lives. Jo and I are both from Brisbane but we love living in the Northern Rivers.

When I’m not watching the latest superhero movie I like reading, cycling, and exploring the world with Jo and Janiel and Charmaine. Jo loves reading, writing, and singing, and has even got me into the world of period dramas. Janiel and Charmaine just love being kids!

David Abey

David is an Elder at CrossRoads Presbyterian Church. He is married to Lilian. David and Lillian call Wollongbar home.

Having lived in Lismore in my early life and then returning to the area and living in Wollongbar since 1991 has been a great blessing.

Family is a wonderful thing and being close to where our parents lived and seeing our three daughters grow up has just added to that joy. Marion and I now have four granddaughters that we spoil as often as possible. We can do this regularly as they all live close by.

But then there is our other family. Marion and I have been part of the local Presbyterian Church since moving to Wollongbar. Over this time we have seen the church grow from a small congregation in Alstonville to a much larger congregation in Wollongbar. It has also been a great blessing to be part of a church family that care about each other and care about God’s Word.

Al Cavanagh

Hi. I have lived on the Northern Rivers for most of my life (minus the 6 years serving in the Royal Australian Airforce) and love this area passionately. However, I am more passionate about God’s Kingdom, His plan of salvation for His people, through the death and resurrection of His son Jesus, to bring us, a bunch of rebels, back to a relationship with Him. Pretty amazing!

I am married to a very loving (and very patient) lady, Rhonda and we have 4 young adult children.

Doug Gray

Born in Thailand and spent part of my youth in Asia as a missionary kid, I have a ‘chequered’ history of involvement in various church denominations before arriving in the Northern Rivers and settling in at CrossRoads. It reflects a passion to be involved in places where teaching of the Bible has a very high priority – a sentiment shared by the other elders and our church fellowship. I am married to Megan, and we have three kids who will all have escaped the nest in a year or so.

Megan and I are doctors, and our weeks are busy with work but we try and find time to have a coffee together, cycle, kayak/ boat, and did I mention coffee?

Don't Be Shy. Get In Touch.

We would love to hear from you- whether it is for prayer, to find out more about Jesus or to find out more about Crossroads. Feel free to drop us a line!
